Submissions?

I got my first emailed submission today. My little heart is fluttering. I have been hesitant to have volunteers mail in their photos...but it's not like I was going to say no! I think that's the absolute bravest thing. And it's got me thinking.

So...should I take photo submissions? It would allow me to do a kind of Post-Secret style blog...which would be neat, and it would also allow me to get photos of people from all around the country (and the world!) instead of just Atlanta. However I'm worried about the legal stuff -- making sure everyone's over 18, etc. Maybe I could get a real (non-blog) website...but those cost money...hmmm...

Tell me guys...WHAT DO YOU THINK?

  1. I think its a great idea! To be honest, I have thought about emailing you to see if you accept emailed photos. I wonder if you could have people sign and scan some sort of consent or something when they submit the photos? I'm not sure how all that legal stuff would work. Anyway, I love your blog and think what you are doing is fantastic!

  2. I really like the idea of people from all over the country being able to submit, after all, isn't that the best part of the internet? I'm not sure how you would cover the legal aspect of it though. Maybe have them fill out an "of age" form and attach it along with the email?

  3. I was wondering if you would take email submission because I would definitely send in my photos! I agree with the "of age" form, or possibly having people photocopy some form of ID that wouldn't be too squick-y for us privacy nuts.

  4. Just want to say I like your blog. I totally agree we are more or less brainwashed by the media and the culture around us. It's a great idea to present the "real" versions of people.

I see all the photos here, however, and I find many of them are very pretty and attractive. I think we need more people; more diverse. So we know there are all kinds of different beauty.

  5. I'm for e-mail submissions too. You'd think having someone read a little legality clause and clicking "I agree" or whatnot would cover legal stuff. But I'm no lawyer. Seems to be what most other sites do....

I'm happy to see this site celebrating our beauty, especially after The Human Variation Project folded.

    Great work!
